Increasing Your Website's Conversion Rate

In business, it’s all about the sales.  The more you are able to sell, the higher income you stand to earn.  It is essential therefore, to always strive for a good sales rate.  These are what marketing strategies are ultimately for, to drive visitors to your website so that they may be exposed to your products and the many benefits the latter do offer.

But once these visitors manage to grace you web pages, what then?  How are you supposed to transform them into paying customers who would purchase what you have to sell?  Surely, there must be some methods that would help us convince them to buy our products, right?

The number of customers you can manage per number of visitors to your website is called the conversion rate.  If your website has a high conversion rate, say 10 sales for every 100 visitors which should be equivalent to 10%, then we could safely say that your website is very effective for you and for your online business.

But how do we achieve a profitable conversion rate?

Well, the main engine for a profitable conversion rate, of course, is the product you’re offering.  No amount of marketing would achieve consumer satisfaction if your product is of inferior quality.  You may be able to sell a lot, yes, based on the hype you’ll be able to generate, but you’d just get a refund rate that’s higher than the height of Mt. Everest.

But even quality products suffer from poor sales.  This is why many people say that the quality of a product should be complemented by excellent marketing strategies.  Primary of these marketing strategies, most especially with regards to your website’s conversion rate, is the preparation of a killer sales copy.

A sales copy is your chance to convince the visitors who would get to read the same that your product is truly something that is worth their money.  It’s the equivalent of a sales pitch, only, you have to connect with your readers on a more personal level.  With the power of words to manipulate moods and emotions, this is more plausible than it may initially seem.

Indeed, words play a big role in increasing your conversion rate.  Sometimes, the difference between a successful sale and a lost visitor boils down to the choice of a couple of words.  Yes, that’s how delicate words are in converting your readers into paying customers.

There are some proven methods that could help you increase your website’s conversion rate, all of them revolving around the use of your sales copy.   Here are some of them:

  • Try utilizing hypnotic language.  This is more fact than myth, and the field has actually blossomed into a complete science.  Technically called neurosemantics, hypnotic language includes the use of persuasive language in simulated circumstances that would condition your readers’ minds to agree with what you’re saying.  Eventually, once you deliver your sales pitch, they would have no choice but to say yes to your offer.  There are many formulas under this category.  Reverse psychology is perhaps the most popular of them.  “Do not read this sales copy for it will drive you crazy” is a negative command that would only attract your readers’ attention, for example.  Another popular formula is positive conditioning.  By asking your readers a series of questions that are answerable by yes, you’d be conditioning them to answer favorably come your sales proposal.  Questions like “It would be nice to earn $1,000 per day, right?” and “would you like to get a guaranteed income stream that would make you a millionaire in just one year?” abound in sales copies that boast of high conversion rates.

  • Pack bonuses with the package you’re offering.  This would give your potential customers the impression that they will get so much from what they’ll be spending.  Try to add the stated value of the freebies you’re going to add so that your readers will get a better idea of the generosity of your package, and how it shouldn’t be missed.

  • Be aware of the nuances of writing for an online audience.  Write simply, concisely and clearly.  Try to avoid technical jargons that would just alienate your readers.  The point is to relate to them intimately, and this cannot be done if you talk in a level that only a select few would be able to understand.

  • Enumerate as many benefits as you could.  The ultimate goal is to convince your readers that your product is very much worth the purchase.  You could do this by telling your audience what’s in it for them if they decide to buy your product.  Try to enumerate at least ten benefits that can be derived from what you’re offering.

A powerful sales page is sure to catapult your online income to profitable heights of prominence.  Take time to craft an effective one, and never forget to test and tweak the same for optimal performance.
